Welcome to Secret Grandmere

We started our operations since 2002 in the manufacture of herbal fusion products. The herbal infusion products are based on the selected dried parts of plants, which contain active ingredients and are intended to be consumed at infusion.

Moreover, our company cultivates the plants and sells to potential planters. Thereafter, we buy the leaves from the same planters for transformation into herbal infusion products. This is a Win-Win situation whereby the planters get a revenue in their plantation and the company gets adequate supply of raw materials for its production.

It is to be noted that for plant cultivation, all processes are organic, i.e. no pesticides and fertilizers are used. In this context, the company got HACCP certified since October 2016.

A bit more about us…

Firstly, the rationale behind the creation of Secret Grand Mère Co Ltd was to provide education to pre-primary school children. In 1996, Mrs. Anooradah Pooran opened a pre-primary school at Chemin Grenier to provide free education to needy students. After 3 years, the school population grew from a mere 5 to 55 children.

Mrs. Anooradah Pooran founded APEDED (Association Pour L’Education Des Enfants Defavorisés) in 1996 with the main objective to empower women to become entrepreneurs at their respective residences. This initiative enabled them to start work through cultivating medicinal plants and selling the leaves to Secret Grand Mère Co Ltd which produce herbal fusion products. It was also a means to generate additional income for their families.

This initiative has also created a positive effect in the society through sensitizing health & wellness of Mauritians via the use of traditional medicines.

All products are 100 % Organic (i.e. no use of pesticides and fertilisers in plants)
